For the exhibition I have shot an entirely new set of fashion photographs that have been inspired by optical illusions (mainly Bridget Riley paintings) & 60′s style graphics & geometric shapes. I’ve also had a bit of a play with gravity in the images!

I am now sub-letting a studio near Brighton train station with the amazingly talented artist Jake Spicer for any studio photography projects. Last Friday I had my first shoot in the new studio with a fantastic team – 2 models, make up artist, hair stylist & wardrobe stylist – more information about that to come in my next blog post.

Last week I was offered a one day a week position at the wonderful Garage Studios helping out around the studio & on various shoots.

I was also invited out on fashion photography day at the start of the month through a modelling website & had the opportunity to shoot 3 different models to help them out with some portfolio images. Here are a few images from the day.

I have been getting a lot more interest in doing model portfolio shots & will be coming up with various price packages for models to add more images to their books very soon. Keep an eye on the Photography Brighton website if you are interested in getting some more portfolio shots taken.

Just to introduce myself – I am a professional female photographer from Brighton, East Sussex, specialising in on-location and studio portrait, fashion and wedding photography. My latest website http://www.photographybrighton.co.uk has just gone live and is a portal to showcase my photography work.

I started photographing at the age of 16 – inspired by my creative family, I bought her first film SLR camera and went off to college to study photography and media – specialising in black & white printing techniques, studio, macro and advertising photography and film. I gained a lot of commercial photography experience around that time helping at a local newspaper in their photographic department, assisting a local portrait photographer and also working at Pinewood Photographic Department developing images taken on film sets and promotional film photos.

In 1998, I went to work at Scanit – a company specialising in graphics and high-res image scanning and manipulation for magazines. It was there that I developed my photo manipulation skills using Photoshop – editing, colour correcting and manipulating photographs for magazines.

Since moving to Brighton in 2004, I have developed a great passion for portrait, fashion & travel photography – which has taken me around UK, France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy & USA.

From time to time I will be blogging about my recent photography commissions & my personal photography projects.

In 2010, I am starting a new personal photography project called “I Love My Home” where I will be travelling around UK photographing individuals & families in their home – I’m on the look out for people who are particularly proud of their home – maybe they have lived there all of their life, have built their own home, have restored an old wreck or have an interesting story to tell about their home.
